The Jordan Journal of Electrical Engineering (JJEE) follows the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all measures necessary to identify and prevent publication misconduct. This statement is based on Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines for journal editors. Therefore, The JJEE makes sure that all parties involved in the publication process adhere to the ethical and academic behavior standards indicated in COPE.

PLAGIARISM

JJEE does not accept any type of plagiarism. JJEE holds no responsibility for plagiarism. All authors submitting a manuscript to JJEE should confirm – by a written statement – that their manuscript is their own creation and has not been copied in whole or in part from other works. All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism, duplicate or redundant publication by anti-plagiarism software (iThenticate). Furthermore, the reviewers are asked to report any unethical issues or misconduct. If a published article is found to be a duplicate or redundant publication, a note of retraction will be published. Retracted manuscripts should be retained online, and they should be prominently marked as a retraction in all online versions for the benefit of future readers.

DUTIES OF THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF AND THE EDITORIAL BOARD

• Declare any conflicts of interest when a manuscript is received for possible publication in JJEE.
• Verify the suitability of the submitted manuscript for publication in the journal based on academic and scientific merits only.
• Select expert peer-reviewers – specialized in the manuscript’s subject area – who have no conflicts of interest and invite them to evaluate the submitted manuscript and provide their objective and justified recommendations.
• Take extreme care to prevent any disclosure of any data about the submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers and editorial staff, as appropriate.
• Make a final decision on accepting or rejecting the submitted manuscripts based on the comments and recommendations of the reviewers and communicate that decision to the authors and the reviewers.
• Schedule accepted articles for publication in the next available future issue of JJEE.
• Handle any conflicts, disputes and investigations if ethical misconduct has been reported or observed regarding a submitted manuscript, following the COPE guidelines on good publication practice.

DUTIES OF REVIEWERS

• Notify the Editor-in-Chief and excuse themselves immediately if they found themselves unqualified to review the submitted manuscript.
• Declare any conflict of interest when receiving a manuscript for evaluation. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions related to the manuscripts.
• Keep the confidentiality of the submitted manuscript. Reviewers must not disclose any information, ideas or results obtained through the peer review process and they shouldn’t use this information for their own or anybody else’s interests.
• Assess the manuscript – in a timely manner – on scientific merits, indicating originality, accuracy of results, adequacy of references, clarity and organization of the manuscript. Reviewers should write a detailed report on their review to be communicated to the authors.
• Avoid any personal criticism of authors and partiality, where these are considered inappropriate and unacceptable.
• Address research and publication ethics issues (i.e., whether they think the research was done and reported ethically, or if they have any suspicions of plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or redundant publication).

DUTIES OF AUTHORS

• Ensure that the submitted manuscript is their own original work and that it is has not been published previously, that it is not submitted, or under consideration for publication elsewhere.
• Limit authorship and co-authorship to those who have significantly contributed to the ideas’ development, derivations, design, analysis, simulation or interpretation of the submitted manuscript. Those who have provided other aspects of the research work should be separately acknowledged.
• Ensure that the manuscript contains a sufficient, original and accurate data.
• Make reference to and cite all relevant publications that have been used in the work.
• Disclose any conflict of interest or financial support to their submitted manuscript and acknowledge clearly the funding organization/entity in their work.
• Read and sign the transfer of copyright agreement.
• Inform the Journal’s Editor-in-chief immediately if they discover substantive errors in their work during the review process or after publication either to correct the work or retract it.
